Wheelchair Leg Wraps vs Lap Belt: Which Area Needs Support?
Leg wraps support the lower legs or feet; a lap belt supports the lap. Their attachment and fitting instructions differ.
On this page
Leg wraps support the lower legs or feet. A lap belt provides support across the lap. Choose according to where support is needed.
The attachment points, length, and release are different, so follow the instructions for the product and chair you use.
Legs, Feet, or Lap?
Choose by the area that needs support. PSNOOK leg wraps secure the lower legs alongside the chair frame, with one wrap per leg. They also support a separate foot/footrest arrangement. A lap belt provides positioning support across the lap.
Length and Overlap
Each PSNOOK leg wrap is 19.7 inches long and approximately 4 inches wide. The hook patch fastens at different positions along the loop-covered surface. Measure the full route and allow enough overlap to engage the closure.
For a lap belt, use that model’s installed adjustment range and full chair route. The two PSNOOK belt layouts use different attachment arrangements.
How They Open
Peel open the leg wraps’ hook-and-loop closures. The PSNOOK lap belts use side-release buckles. Keep the chosen release within reach and follow the person’s removal and transfer instructions.
Before Choosing
Before ordering, review:
- The supported area and the specific accessory requested in the care instructions.
- The chair manufacturer's permitted attachment route.
- The full wrap path and required closure overlap.
- Access for inspection, opening, and removal.
- The required supervision and transfer routine.
For restraint use or a change in support needs, follow the individual professional care plan.
Care Note
Positioning accessories must suit the individual and chair. Seek qualified guidance for restraint use, supervision, release access, and transfers.
