Who It May Help
Hand support after a stroke: After a stroke, a weak hand may need help staying in its prescribed resting position. The plate supports the hand, with separate straps for the fingers, palm, and wrist.
Recovery from brain injury or surgery: A helper can adjust each strap separately to fit the hand. Follow the hand position and wearing schedule set by the rehabilitation team.
Parkinson’s and nerve-related hand difficulties: Some adults with Parkinson’s or peripheral nerve problems need support for the hand at rest. The plate and straps must fit the hand position approved for that person.
Adults with cerebral palsy: If a clinician recommends this type of resting splint, check that the hand rests comfortably against the plate. Adjust the finger, palm, and wrist straps separately.
Hand injury or surgery recovery: A resting splint may be part of recovery. Check that the plate shape works with the prescribed hand position and any dressings before fitting it.
Help with putting on the splint: A family member or therapist can open each strap separately to place the hand and check the fit. Rethread the straps in the opposite direction to switch between left and right hands.
Before You Choose
- Compare the hand-shaped plate with the wearer: approximately 9.45 inches high, 7 inches across the palm area, and 2.8 inches across the wrist area.
- Choose the left- or right-hand strap arrangement.
- Each package contains one splint.
Follow the prescribed fitting and wear instructions. Do not force finger position or tighten through discomfort.
